- Coordination of hospital stay and discharge
- Agency representation at the birth parent court hearing(s) and adoptive parent finalization
- Minimum of 6 months post-adoption supervision
- 3 post-placement supervisory reports, and 1 home visit
- Obtaining medical records and coordination of insurance coverage
- Birth family and adoptive family post-adoption education, support, and consultation
- Administrative and operational costs
- If birth mother has Medicaid or private insurance, her expenses are usually covered
- Baby's medical expenses might be covered by birth mother's Medicaid or private insurance or adoptive parent's insurance
- For whatever medical expenses that aren't covered by Medicaid, birth mother's private insurance or adoptive parent's medical insurance
- This includes all appointments, birth, and postpartum appointment costs
- The agency will make every effort possible to identify anticipated expenses
- Birth mother's rent, groceries, bills, legal bills, etc.
- If living expenses exceed $1,000/mo, court approval is required
- Agency retains an attorney to facilitate the finalization of adoption
- The legal cost to finalize an adoption is separate from the cost to terminate the parental rights of the birth parent
